This Invitation for Tenders follows the General Procurement Notice for this project which was published in Procurement Opportunities, 5758-GPN-37030 of 10 June 2008 and was recently updated on 18 June 2009.

The Armenian Water and Sewerage Company, hereinafter referred to as "the Employer", intends using part of the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) and a grant from the EU Water Initiative towards the cost of the Lake Sevan Environmental Project.

The Armenian Water and Sewerage Company now invites sealed tenders from contractors for the following contract to be funded from part of the proceeds of the loan:

Design and construction of wastewater treatment plants in Gavar, Martumi and Vardenis.

The services comprise design, supply, installation, commissioning of plant and construction works for

Mechanical wastewater treatment plant in Gavar, capacity 10.500 m3/d

Mechanical wastewater treatment plant in Martuni, capacity 4.600 m3/d

Mechanical wastewater treatment plant in Vardenis, capacity 5.000 m3/d

The estimated duration of the works is 24 months, namely August 2009 till July 2011 with expected breaks in winter time.

Tendering for contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank is open to firms from any country.

To be qualified for the award of a contract, tenderers must satisfy the requirements regarding experience, personnel, equipment, financial position and litigation history:

- average turnover as prime contractor in the over the last five (5) years of euro 5,000,000 equivalent;

- successful experience as contractor in the execution of at least two (2) contracts of a nature and complexity comparable to the proposed contract within the last five (5) years;

- sound financial position with financial means to meet a construction cash flow of EUR 1 million equivalent for a period of 4 months while taking into account the commitments for other contracts. Long-term profitability must be proven by audited balance sheet for the last five (5) years.

If requested, the documents will be promptly dispatched by courier, but no liability can be accepted for loss or late delivery.

All tenders must be accompanied by a tender security of 200,000 EUR or its equivalent in a convertible currency.

Tenders must be delivered to the office at the address below on or before 19 August 2009 at 12:00, Yerevan time, at which time they will be opened in the presence of those tenderers' representatives who choose to attend.
